Almost no information are known about this show. A fan who has been there told me that originally only 2 shows were announced: one Johannesburg show and the
Durban show. The Johannesburg show sold out, so a second show was added. Eventually the Cape Town show was added, too. There was some other event at the Cape Town stadium, too, which caused
problems scheduling the show, but somehow they managed to get it! A local band from Durban, called Arapaho, were the support act.
The show day was very cloudy so the audience was very anxious because back in those days they would cancel a show if it rained.
The opening song was Rockin' All Over The World and the set list that followed was pretty standard of the time. Lie To Me and (It's Hard) Letting You Go were played in succession which caused a lull in the show. Jon wasn’t very talkative throughout the show, which was disappointing considering this was the first ever show in South Africa. Tico and Dave looked like they were the only ones enjoying themselves.
The band closed with Always and it was during the last song that it started lightly raining.
The fan who told me this remembered being slightly disappointed with the show (Richie didn’t even wear his Cowboy hat during Wanted Dead Or Alive). He has seen Bon Jovi many times since and described this show as an off night.
